Muscle
Is known in English as Muscle. It contributes to the movement, speech, and various mechanical functions performed by humans every day. The weight of the muscle mass in the human body reaches about half the weight of the whole body mass; that is, the majority of the human body is composed of muscles.
The muscle contains a tissue that contributes to its movement, called the fibrous tissue. This tissue covers a membrane called sarcolema. The muscle fibers are linked together by protein filaments, which in turn help the fibers to move flexibly. While moving organs that contain muscle tissue.
Types of muscles
The muscle is divided into three types:
- The skeletal muscle is one of the main muscles in the human body, and the number of structural muscles reaches 605 muscles, and its work corresponds to the work of both the structural and nervous systems, which receive the signals and orders issued by the brain muscles to help them move based on the functions assigned to them .
- Smooth muscles: They are the muscles that humans have no ability to control. They are called smooth, because they do not show any components of the fibers when they are microscopic. These muscles are found in the internal organs of the human body, such as the stomach and the intestines.
- Cardiac cardiorespiratory muscles are the main constituents of the heart. These muscles help the heart muscle to function until the human remains alive.
Diseases and injuries of muscles
Muscles suffer from many diseases and injuries that impair their movement.
Muscular Diseases
Most diseases related to the muscles depend on the influence of the nervous system in the nature of its work, and these diseases lead to muscle weakness, which may result in suffering from muscle atrophy; because of shrinking size, and this leads to fragility, and easy to break, and types of diseases that affect the muscles:
- Spinal cord disease, which occurs as a result of nerve injuries.
- Migraine, which is known as polio.
- Stress on the neck and back area, which occurs due to the movement of the vertebral vertebrae.
- Muscle spasms, caused by nervous system malfunction when exposed to neurodegenerative diseases such as stroke.
Muscle Injuries
Injuries to the muscles are more common than muscular diseases, because of the presence of many factors surrounding the human, which leads to muscle injury, and the ability of the muscles to self-treat, and types of injuries to the muscles:
- Muscle sprains, which occur suddenly when making a wrong move, or when running long distances without being prepared.
- Myocardial infarction, an injury caused by the exposure of muscle fibers to injury; due to exposure to strong bruises.
- Muscle rupture, muscle injury caused by rupture of the fibers surrounding the muscles, resulting in pain and swelling in the affected area.
